One ad per query. These days the organic results are after the page fold.

Google is almost unusable now, the entire first screen is almost always 5 paid placements and 5 SEO scam sites.

Principle

Consistency and standards, clear visual distinction

People report that sponsored results look nearly identical to organic ones, marked only by a small label, so they can't easily tell paid placements from real results and end up clicking ads by mistake.

A fix

Group ads in a clearly bounded block with a distinct background and a prominent label, visually separate from the organic list, and make sure organic results start within the first mobile screen.
